Susie Barnes
Executive Director

Susie understands what it feels like to be hopeless and uncertain of what the future holds.  As a child she survived sexual abuse.  At the age of 13 she ran away from home, dropped out of school, got a job, and had to grow up faster than any girl should have to.  As an adult, she suffered major depression, low-self esteem, and constantly questioned her purpose in life.

And then she met God.  She learned that despite all the negative experiences, she could forgive, heal, and move beyond the past.  God showed her that her life has value and filled her heart with compassion.  Susie realized that her purpose in life was to help wounded women realize they have value too.

Susie founded White As Snow Ministries, held women's conferences, bible studies, and put out a newsletter.  The purpose was to help other women who needed encouragement to release their pain and realize their self-worth.   It wasn't long after starting her own ministry, that she was drawn to Glory House.  She came once a week to teach a bible class, and was soon asked to  join the staff as Program Director.

In 2006, Susie took the position of Executive Director at Glory House.    Currently, she is overseeing a variety of changes that will take Glory House to the next level:  by raising awareness about Glory House, expanding fundraising efforts, providing more special events for the general public to attend, and fine-tuning the current Glory House program curriculum.

She's passionate about the good work that takes place at Glory House, and is proud to be right where God wants her: helping women grow, learn, and heal.

Susie is also a singer-song writer.  She's been married for 19 years, and has one son.

Dr. Mary Anne Bennett
Program Director

Mary Anne believes it’s never too late for a woman to realize her potential. As a high school drop out herself, Mary Anne went back to school to get her General Education Degree (GED) at the age of 34. She then went on to college and graduate school. At the age of 47 she received a PhD in Sociology.

For years, Mary Anne has been active with her church, has helped in a food pantry for the homeless, and has volunteered her time at Emergency Infant Services. She also has an extensive background counseling women in need.

Her love for volunteering lead Mary Anne to Glory House, where she is now serving on staff as the Program Director. She has re-written the program curriculum and helped to implement new procedures for the over-all operation of the facility.  She helps residents with goal setting, action plans, and life-skills. Mary Anne has a deep sense of compassion about the issues many women face with low self-esteem, and is steadfast in her dedication in helping women to overcome these challenges.

Mary Anne worked for many years as the Director of Academic Evaluation and Assessment at South Dakota Sate University, until she moved to back to Tulsa after the death of her husband of 34 years. She has two sons, a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and a cat.

And, last but never least... Our wonderful House Mothers
These ladies take on the role of "mom" to maintain a home-like atmosphere.
They spend days and nights  at Glory House, and are available when the residents need to talk, laugh, cry or pray.  They enforce the rules, break-up conflicts, create harmony, and supervise all aspects of day-to-day life for the women who live at Glory House.   Each House Mother is a vital part of the success of Glory House.
